Who is this course for?
The ERCA Rescuer qualification is designed for experienced instructors who want to develop the specialist skills required to carry out rescues involving participants or staff on a ropes course.
The training builds on the knowledge and techniques gained through an appropriate ERCA instructor qualification. Before undertaking ERCA Rescuer training, candidates must hold a relevant ERCA instructor award for the type of facility or activity they will be working with, such as adventure parks, traditional ropes courses or specific ropes course elements.
Training focuses on rescue methods that are relevant to the normal operation of the candidate's venue. The techniques covered will reflect the user safety systems, individual safety equipment and course configurations in use at the training location.
How is the course structured?
The ERCA Rescuer training course is structured around a core theory module combined with practical rescue modules. This modular format allows the programme to be adapted to suit the operational requirements of the facility and the experience of the candidates.
Candidates will learn and practise appropriate rescue methods, procedures and equipment for dealing with realistic situations that may occur during day-to-day operations. At least one practical rescue module must be completed as part of the qualification.
The particular rescue techniques and equipment covered during the training will be recorded on the candidate's training certificate. This provides a clear record of the areas in which the rescuer has received instruction and been assessed.
